Ferrograph Series Seven

This Ferrograph Series Seven has been commissioned by the Imperial War Museum in London for use in their archiving work.

It has been extensively modified for playback only All the recording electronics have been removed and the remaining signal wiring made simpler and more direct.

The machine has two switchable playback heads, one for quarter track and the other for half track. The two brass knobs above the heads are for azimuth adjustment enabling the heads to be optimised to the tape being played.

Designed to run with or without the pressure pads, the shell of the left hand head contains a large cleaning pad which helps to remove tape dust.

The playback amplifiers each have their own level, tone correction and switchable equalisation controls all of which are independent of the speed selected.
