Onyx Pre Amp Prototype
This is a pre-production prototype for a new all valve preamplifier called Onyx. It has four line inputs and one phono input which can be configured for moving coil or moving magnet cartridges. The valve line up is; 6 ECC83, 1 ECC82 and 1 EL84. The front facia is oiled White Oak and the chassis is all aluminium. Everything is hand wired using silver PTFE wire and silver feed-through terminals. Careful consideration has been paid to layout, screening and earthing to minimise hum and noise. This is a very dynamic and open sounding amplifier and will drive any valve or transistor power amplifier. The retail price is likely to be around £800 but is dependent on component prices.
